Former Arsenal and Aston Villa midfielder Paul Merson made his first
competitive appearance in seven years when he turned out for struggling
mid-Wales League side Welshpool on Wednesday.
Merson capped 21 times by England, joined fellow Sky colleague Chris Kamara in the line up as the team lost 4-1 to Newbridge.
Merson scored his first goal since 2005 when he headed Welshpool into the lead. It was his first strike since he scored for Walsall when he was player-manager at the Bescot Stadium.
