Man City appear to have shot themselves in the foot by putting a valuation of just £20 Million on Arsenal’s Robin van Persie.
The Daily Express are reporting that City are basing that valuation on van Persie’s age (29) and the fact that he has just one year left on his contract, additionally City are also factoring in the Dutch Maestro’s wages, that however will be of no concern to Arsenal who would want almost double what City think van Persie is worth.
Arsenal would dismiss a bid of £20 Million without hesitation, they know full well that clubs like Barcelona and Inter Milan would pay significantly more and all City are doing is, in effect, counting themselves out of the running and playing in to Arsenal’s hands.
It could also be that City have finally woken up to the fact that they are going to have to start balancing the books and the days of mega transfer deals are coming to an end, but £20 Million? that is nothing more than an insult.
