Arsenal were the better side in yesterday's encounter away at Manchester City and one could have questioned the result but a point on the road isn't that bad, considering the fact that we played against the defending Champions.
We were quite unlucky not to get all three points as we wasted some of our clear chances, [two by Gervinho] but all the same, it was a fair result.
Thomas Vermaelen was a late exclusion from the game due to illness[flu] and we saw Koscielny take his place, being his first start since the commencement of the present campaign. Szczesny was still missing due to an ankle strain as Mannone retained his spot.
We opened the game with our free flowing passes, which showed the level of our confidence.
Very early in the game, Mannone made a save from Aguero's attempt. In the 16th minute, Gervinho lost a goal which should have been the opener as he tapped the ball forward, only for Hart to pick it up. Had he taken a fast strike, we might had been a goal up at that time.
The hosts buckled up as they sensed a lot of danger from our side but the next chance was at our favour as Jenkinson snatched the ball from Lescott and flicked it over to Podolski who fired a right-footed shot over the bar. He could have done better.
A few minutes to half-time, Gibbs gave away a corner which led to Manchester City's goal. Lescott's header from Silva's cross was enough to put them ahead. Thanks to Mannone because if not for his late fingertip save, we would had been two goals down at half time and a comeback would had been very difficult.
The defending champions got some more chances in the second half but our Italian goalkeeper and our defenders dealt well with them. I was so amazed to see the manner at which Mertesacker intercepted so many of City's balls. He had an impressive Man of the Match performance.
Nineteen more minutes to go and Wenger saw the need to bring in some new faces as we saw Giroud and Walcott come in to replace Diaby and Podolski. We should have conceded in the 80th minute from another Aguero strike which was denied by Vito's super-save.
Our efforts were crowned when Cazorla's shot was pushed by Hart which one us a corner kick. The corner was taken and Laurent Koscielny hit a shot into the net to make it 1 1.
Our last chance came begging when Gervinho got an opportunity to put us ahead but blasted wide.
Some of us might be disappointed over the result but I must confess I was very happy we escaped with a point away from home.
