Wenger: Sagna's Statements Were Twisted.

Arsene Wenger isn't thinking as many of us thought after Sagna made some comments about Arsenal's transfer policy in an interview during the international break. Wenger believes his statements didn't mean what people actually thought, as he is confident Sagna would stay and see the club move forward.

The French right- back was furious at the sale of the club's best players in the last two years. He revealed his disappointment seeing Fabregas, Nasri and Clichy leave in the summer of 2011. To make things worse, the club still went on to sell Robin Van Persie and Alex Song in the last window, which according to Sagna is "lack of ambition." but Wenger remains positive about his future at the club.

"I've said that Bacary loves the club and will stay here," said Wenger, "and his article has been twisted a little bit because he spoke about Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla and there was never a word of that in the article.

"He didn't want to be negative but you all know what you can do with any statement.

"Yes [I spoke to him]. It's important to understand what he wanted to say. What he wanted to say was not exactly the spirit of the whole thing.

"You have the freedom to say what you want in life but it is also important you understand what people feel about the club and their job. It's always important to have good communication with them."

"It [a new contract for Sagna] will be discussed," added Wenger. "I expect him to stay and I want him to stay. The interview does not really reflect at all the love he has for this club because he has always shown total commitment on the football pitch - for the team and the club."

Arsene Wenger went on to defend the sale of Alex Song sayin,

"That he was disappointed [that Song left], I can understand that," said the manager. "But when you look at the number of players we have in midfield, you can understand that as well.

"He is close to Diaby as well. So when you have Arteta, Diaby, Cazorla and Song, one can't play."
