A surveillance video released by the New York Police Department showed a man who stabbed Michael Jones several times in the chest and neck, cut off his ear and left him to die in pains on a pavement.
The New York Red Bulls youth coach who is 25 years of age was stabbed around 4.30 am on Sunday morning and the culprit is still on the run.
According to a reliable source, the attack wasn't a robbery attack because Jones' wallet and phone were found at the scene of the incident.
Jones was reportedly seen talking to his killer moments before the attack but it isn't clear if they knew each other.
The video showed a man moving away from the scene with long, dark hair in a ponytail. Police estimate he is between 25 and 30 years old.
Jones moved to New York from Liverpool, England, about five years ago to coach soccer for the Red Bulls.
"He was a fantastic coach who loved soccer and a terrific friend for many of us," the team said in a statement.
"This is truly a sad day for our soccer community and we will do our utmost to help authorities in their investigation of this case. Our thoughts and prayers are with Michael's family at this time."
What could the innocent guy had done to deserve such treatment? I just wonder if people who commit such crimes are humans or beasts because I don't think anyone in his right senses would do such a thing. Let's just hope the criminal is fished out and rightly dealt with.
May the Gentle Soul of Michael Jones Rest in Perfect Peace.
